Oh dear, another day another PR disaster for Raheem Sterling and his agent.
Much like the summer of 2013 when each night saw a new twist in the Luis Suarez saga – a saga that eventually saw the player remain at the club after being forced to train alone and with Liverpool rejecting an infamous 40-million-plus-a-pound bid from Arsenal – each day now brings with it more controversy from Team Sterling.
Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward has denied quotes that emerged earlier on Thursday, with the London Evening Standard quoted him saying that Sterling would not sign a new deal even if he were offered “£900,000 per week”.
Ward’s denial of the reported quotes hasn’t stopped social media being awash with comments about the agent and his supposed words.
Here’s how media and fans have reacted to the developments today.
Somehow can't see myself typing the word "Sterling" when teamsheet is handed out on Sunday afternoon now.

Cease contract negotiations with Sterling & Ward. Drop him on Sunday. Leave him on 35k. Tell to come back when they want to behave! #LFC

Barely know what to say after having read that. Shocking comments. Even Sterling must have warning bells ringing now. Aidy Ward is a joke.

Clubs in the queue to sign Sterling currently looking at each other wondering if the others will notice if they back away quietly.

The agent is only pushing for his percentage of any transfer deal, tell Sterling we will not be dealing with your agent and you are staying

"Every Premier League club will make a bid for him”
Accept Hull’s bid. reject the others.

It's time for the club to take control over this ridiculous situation. Don't make any more silly comments and don't play Sterling on Sun.

Danny Mills: “The advice [Sterling] has had from his agent is horrendous, it’s appalling. His agent is only in it for himself" #TTFLive

While Liverpool fans have become accustomed to Sterling being left open mouthed at missing open goals this season, they’re now becoming accustomed to being left aghast at the handling of the situation.
