Liverpool edged past Burnley to pick up their first Boxing day victory under Brendan Rodgers’ reign, having lost at Stoke and Man City in previous years.
The nightmare after Christmas was avoided thanks to Raheem Sterling’s well taken second half goal, but for a long time especially in the first half it looked like being another disappointing festive result.
Thankfully, Sterling’s goal saved the day and gave Liverpool the three points at Turf Moor. Although, a lot of the post match focus was on other areas of the side.
Full time, 3 points, enough. awful display, front to back. tactic was to give it to Sterling and see what happens.

Ignoring the GKs because because. Skrtel an absolutely disaster today. Failing in the air and on the ground. Can't mark. Can't win headers.

Remember when Rodgers bombed Skrtel out in March 2013 and he seemed certain to leave in the Summer?

Raheem Sterling has now been directly involved in 36.3% of Liverpool's goals in the league this season (4G & 4A). pic.twitter.com/rUxGAoY9ci

Meanwhile, the goalkeeper situation reached farcical levels…

I don't think any player in the history of the game has ever done what Mignolet did there.

That is some of the thickest goalkeeping i've ever seen in my entire life…
— The Redmen TV (@TheRedmenTV) December 26, 2014
Mignolet has just taken so long to clear that the ball ended up rolling out for a corner. Never seen anything like it.

Add to that two keepers who can't be trusted and the ongoing issue with Skrtel. It's a team thrown together with blue tac.
