A quickfire double early in the second half saw Liverpool secure a thrilling 2-0 win over Chelsea and fans were duly delighted.
Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea
Premier League, Anfield
April 14, 2019
Goals: Mane 51′, Salah 53′
The Reds welcomed Chelsea to Anfield in the knowledge that a win would see them return to the Premier League summit with just four games remaining.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side dominated much of the opening period but struggled to find the finishing touch needed to see their superiority reflected on the scoreboard.
But Liverpool returned from the interval like a team possessed as a Sadio Mane strike and a Mohamed Salah stunner saw the Reds establish a two-goal buffer within the space of two minutes.
The Reds would go on to keep a clean sheet and secure another three vital points in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
Here’s how supporters reacted to the result on social media and on our forums.
An aggressive start saw Fabinho & Keita receive mass plaudits from fans…

when he's in full run, Keïta looks like he's skating

Really impressed with Naby Keita so far. Confident in possession and constantly looks like making something happen. Off-the-ball work has been strong too.

While Mane & Henderson’s lethal combination saw the pair hailed as they broke the deadlock…
One of the best starts to a half I’ve seen from Liverpool. Absolutely electric.
— Jack Sear (@JackSear) April 14, 2019
Sadio Mane's 21st goal of the season and it's absolutely massive for #LFC. What a cross from Jordan Henderson. Anfield erupts.
— James Pearce (@JamesPearceLFC) April 14, 2019
Henderson been a figure of some debate due to his position, but has had quite a positive influence on this title race. His clever header set up Salah run against Southampton, and his cool head that set up Mane here.

“Henderson’s assist is magnificent.

#lfc's player of the season for me #Mane

Henderson. Superb. Again.
— Simon Hughes (@Simon_Hughes__) April 14, 2019
Yes, Hendo! Yes, Mané!

I’ve slated Henderson at times this season, but he seems a man transformed back at a number 8. Seems to mentally have the bit between his teeth as well.

Salah’s stunner left many in awe as the Egyptian doubled Liverpool’s lead…
WHAT a fucking hit from Mo!
Reminds me of two immediately: Torres vs Chelsea right before he left, opposite side, absolutely arrowed in.
And Fowler vs Villa, ages ago, great drive same angle/strike.
Get in.

Salah is proper on one here. Think he may be just making a small point to those bigots and racists…#LFC

SALAH. He must have a foot like a traction engine. #LIVCHE
— James Nalton (@JDNalton) April 14, 2019
The most unerring left footed strike I’ve seen at Anfield since @Robbie9Fowler against Aston Villa.
— Tony Barrett (@TonyBarrett) April 14, 2019
Liverpool’s sheer will to win saw the entire team receive praise…
Every single player played out of their skin there. That second half was up there with the best football Liverpool have played all season, given the circumstances. The sheer grit and determination of this side is unbelievable.
— Joel Rabinowitz (@joel_archie) April 14, 2019
Conquered the occasion. The way Henderson gave it all, the way Fabinho was everywhere, the way Anfield got behind Robertson as he fell, the way Mane comes through again, the way Salah repays the racists. Liverpool, top of the league. That was MASSIVE. #LFCdigest pic.twitter.com/rCY8JCp3Jo

Proud to be a red after that. Heroic 2nd half. We are going nowhere. Get in! #YNWA

“Outstanding performance all round. Absolutely superb from each and every one of them.”
– Ken Hurst on Facebook.
Each point matters, and the three points today were critical in our campaign. Liverpool played like champions today in the fortress of Anfield #LIVCHE pic.twitter.com/TrvHHegem3
— Linda Pizzuti Henry (@Linda_Pizzuti) April 14, 2019
The football in that second-half was something else.
Every player in a Red shirt turned up and gave it their all, they know what it means.
Whatever happens, be proud of this Liverpool team. It’s only the beginning.
— Laurie (@LFCLaurie) April 14, 2019
Brilliant. This Liverpool team is just brilliant. Nothing more to add.#LFC #LIVCHE

And now there are four finals left as the Reds again pile pressure on Man City’s doorstep…
2013/14 was incredible. It will never be forgotten.
But this team now have one more point than that side got, with four to play. Phenomenal.

Only just getting my breath back after Salah's goal. That was an astonishing moment.
Couldn't be putting more pressure on City if we tried – a really special effort this.
— Henry Jackson (@HenryJackson87) April 14, 2019
Once again City throw down the gauntlet and once again we bring it down neatly on the chest and smash the shit out of it into the top corner!! COME ON THE RED MEN!!!!!!
— Neil Fitzmaurice (@Fitzyfella) April 14, 2019
Just keep rolling the ball back to them by winning our games.
— Steven Scragg (@Scraggy_74) April 14, 2019
These Reds are absolutely class, the pressure is on City now.
COME ON YOU REDS!!!!
