Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria has completed a loan move to Reading until the end of the season, having previously terminated his stay at Rangers early.
The midfielder has joined the Championship club for a six-month stay and will hope this temporary deal ends up being a more successful and happy move than his earlier loan this season.
Ejaria joined Ryan Kent in making an initial loan north of the border to Rangers, under new boss Steven Gerrard.
Early on, Ejaria played a big part in the Glasgow side’s plans, playing three of their opening four Europa League group games—as well as all eight qualifiers—and featuring in all but two of the first 18 league games of the season.
All told, he made 28 appearances, scoring twice, but his loan ended on a sour note after he was unable to settle and requested an early return to Liverpool.
Since then, he has been training with the U23s with the club looking to broker another loan deal for him—and Reading, with a new boss in place, is the destination for the central midfielder.
Jose Gomes took over at Reading just days before Christmas and his squad sit in 23rd place, five points from safety.
The loan will therefore mirror Ejaria’s last switch to the Championship, when he featured in 11 league games for Sunderland as they battled against the drop.
Despite some good reviews for his performances, the midfielder was unable to help his temporary team avoid relegation on that occasion and will hope to have a greater influence this time around.
Ejaria, who turned 21 in November, still has a further two years left on his contract after the current campaign.
He has made eight first-team appearances for Liverpool to-date, all during the 2016/17 campaign.
