Liverpool strolled to a convincing 3-0 win over Southampton at Anfield to make it six Premier League wins from six, and seven in a row in all competitions.
Liverpool 3-0 Southampton
Premier League, Anfield
September 22, 2018
Goals: Hoedt OG 10′, Matip 21′, Salah 45+3′
It was a routine victory in the end, with Southampton offering little by way of resistance to a Liverpool side who march on towards a testing set of fixtures against Chelsea.
The goals all came in the first half, with Xherdan Shaqiri influential throughout his 45-minute showing, forcing Wesley Hoedt’s opening own goal and laying on Mohamed Salah‘s strike with a brilliant free-kick.
Joel Matip netted on his first start of the season in between those two goals, towering over the 6’7″ Jannik Vestergaard to crash a header home.
Liverpool have won their first seven games of the campaign for the first time in history, and here’s how supporters saw this 3-0 victory on Twitter, Facebook and our forums.
Plenty were impressed with Shaqiri on his full debut…
Impressive 45 from Shaqiri today, offered loads in that advanced midfield role. Took up some really good positions, always positive on the ball and had a hand in two goals. Plenty more to come from him. Hope he starts again in mid week vs Chelsea.

What a MOTM performance from Shaqiri on his first start. Was the catalyst today providing the opening goal via an own goal and unlucky to hit the crossbar with Salah following afterwards. Worked his socks off with a tireless performance with freedom in the first half. pic.twitter.com/NllEPape0d

Never mind Fabinho, Shaqiri might well push one of the mid 3 out of a spot. What a signing he looks. Klopp is harbouring that potential he showed for so long. MOTM so far imo

Salah was applauded after ending his ‘goal drought’…
For a player that people saying is having a bad start, @MoSalah is freaking brilliant ?????

Salah scores on the stroke of halftime. Get him back in your fantasy teams, folks.

Take at look at the Match of the Day highlights later. You'll see genuine joy from his team-mates for Salah when he scores. From him too, naturally…but they're all so invested in him doing well, which is a sign of unity in this squad. #LFC

This season is just SO MUCH FUN! What a manager, what a team. We honestly have rockstars in every position, top to bottom, and they have such comradery and spirit. I'm giddy with excitement!

Another dominant performance from Liverpool without the need to get out of third gear. 6 from 6 in the league, with 14 scored and only 2 conceded – can’t to see what 4th and 5th gear look like.

This side makes 3-0 wins look and feel very ho-hum, run of the mill affairs. We might not win the league, but Klopp has put together a hell of a side and we should enjoy every second of the ride.
