Liverpool fans were delighted after Jurgen Klopp’s side opened the new Premier League season with the 4-0 thrashing of West Ham at Anfield.
Liverpool 4–0 West Ham
Premier League, Anfield
August 12, 2018
Goals: Salah 19′, Mane 45+2′, 53′, Sturridge 88′
The Reds made the perfect start to the new season with a big victory over the Hammers collecting their first three points of the season.
Mohamed Salah took just 18 minutes of the new season to get back into the old routine, converting from Andy Robertson’s excellent cross to put the Reds ahead.
And the Reds went in at half-time two goals to the good, after Sadio Mane converted following a tremendous cutback from James Milner in first-half stoppage time.
Mane grabbed his second shortly after the break to make it 3-0, spinning and firing into the bottom corner after being fed by Roberto Firmino—though he was actually offside.
The scoring was completed and victory wrapped up two minutes from time, when Daniel Sturridge scored with his first touch after coming on converting at the back post from a corner.
It’s an ideal start to what many are tipping to be a big season for Klopp’s side, and here is how supporters reacted to the win across social media and our forums.
