Liverpool were drawn against Man City in the Champions League quarter-finals on Friday, and fans have been left excited by the news.
Jurgen Klopp and his players have been waiting with bated breath to hear who they will face next month, and all has now been revealed.
Runaway Premier League leaders City stand between the Reds and a place in the semi-finals for the first time in 2007/08, with the first leg taking place at Anfield on April 4, and the return fixture being played at the Etihad on April 10.
It is a mouthwatering contest between two of Europe’s most aesthetically-pleasing teams, and is the first ever Champions League meeting between the English pair.
Elsewhere, Barcelona play Roma, Sevilla face Bayern Munich, and Juventus and Real Madrid do battle in a repeat of last season’s final.
Here’s how supporters reacted to the draw on social media.
Some were looking on the optimistic side…

They're scared of us, make no bones about it.Yes they're a wonderful team and definite favourites to progress, but we can beat them.

No one wanted City.
But atleast we know how to beat them.

The weather in Madrid and Barcelona is much nicer in May.

At the end of the day we're in it to win it. We can beat any team on our day. Bring City on.

IF Liverpool get past City, then I fear nobody

“Rather play them now while there trying to wrap up the league, the chances are if we beat another team we would meet City anyway. Bring it on.”
– David Crickit Dolan on Facebook.

Beating City 3 times this season eh

Worth noting that the last time #LFC won the Champions League we had to beat the runaway league leaders over two legs in the knockout stages.

And others were more pessimistic…
As bad as it could have got that. Man City. Home first. All the other top teams kept away from each other. Still. Nice to see Totti looking well

Really wanted a team from outside of theses shores. Didn't really care who tbh but a proper European away would have been great.

Would have loved that draw if we were home in the 2nd leg

“That was my No.1 worst draw & bloody home leg first as well.”

So I'd suggest that's the worst possible draw Liverpool could have got. Home in the first leg and against Man City. Massive game

Naf draw for #LFC, English opponents and 2nd leg at #MCFC – all a bit meh.
Not arsed that they'll be clear favourites, chance to remedy league match at their gaf, still haunts our Sadio that.

#lfc have been beaten by Man City once in their past five meetings. Three wins, one draw.

For what it’s worth, I think we would’ve been right up there with the teams that Pep would’ve wanted to avoid. Bad draw for both sides imo.
