Italian giants Juventus are said to be ready to make Emre Can one of their highest earning players and give him the starting role as their ‘No. 6’ in midfield.
The German midfielder is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season and therefore free to sign an agreement with a foreign club from January.
This has seen Juventus among the clubs linked with the 23-year-old, and it’s now claimed the Italian side are confident of signing the former Bayern Munich youngster.
Goal’s Melissa Reddy explains that Juve are prepared to make Can focal to their long-term core of their side, giving him the holding midfield role that he desires.
Can would replace the injury-plagued Sami Khedira and line up alongside playmaker Miralem Pjanic.
There have been claims in the past that Can wants assurances over his role should he remain at Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp has shunned his compatriot in favour of Jordan Henderson as Liverpool’s deep-lying midfielder.
Klopp has insisted that Can could remain at Liverpool but all the noises point to a move away, which opens the question of whether the Reds will look to cash in on him in January rather than lose him on a free in the summer.
