Liverpool fans welcomed Anfield’s first game of the season and were celebrating after defeating champions Leicester City 4-1.
It was 122 days since the last game was played at Anfield, and the crowd was the largest for almost 40 years, with the Reds responding by claiming three points against the Foxes.
The last time the two sides met at Anfield it was the big summer signing, Christian Benteke, who sealed a 1-0 victory, but this time around it was £30 million man Sadio Mane who joined Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana on the scoresheet.
The Senegalese’s strike was sandwiched between two goals from Firmino and a powerful effort from Lallana, with Jamie Vardy’s consolation goal the only blot on the new Anfield’s copybook.
Here’s the best reaction to the victory on social media.
Bobby F is just a joy to watch when he plays like this #LFC

That goal was so good Klopp's glasses fell off again! Can't blame Benteke this time tho. Fair to say Anfield is buzzing! #LFC

We always knew we'd struggle defensively this season. Doesn't help that Mignolet is still in goal and we have two CMs in defence!!

Iceman on the comments section:
“Whisper it. Mane has been a pretty good signing so far. I’m seriously falling into a bromance with Lallana. Works hard, silky smooth on the ball. Just need to do THAT more often.”
Front three have been exceptional, especially with their movement. Sturridge the pick of the bunch, made both goals and missed a sitter.

Liverpool haven't looked this good since the Suarez breakout season. Fun team to watch. Hammering the defending champs. #LFCvLCFC #EPL

Watch everyone slam Henderson for missing that chance when he's been absolutely outstanding today. Dominated the midfield.

Zia mc nish on the This Is Anfield live blog:
“When Firmino plays in the #10 position he seems to play lot better to me. He is not a striker and should not play as one, especially when we have strikers that are fit.”
"Then I put Lucas in defence to put icing on cake… And we still won 4-1"#LFC pic.twitter.com/Or0RHsbabn

Five wins in a row and we've not not really played well. Things will only get better. #Rafalution

So many good things going forward for #LFC today. But Matip looks like the dominant, commanding centre back we've desperately needed.

BoschSC on the forums:
“Mignolet has the fear of Karius in him, playing tougher in crowds today for sure, which is good to see.”
Mane hasn't had a bad game for us this season. Could say the same for Lallana as well.
