Liverpool kicked-off their quest for League Cup glory with a 5-0 drubbing of Championship side Burton Albion on Tuesday night. We round-up the best social media reaction.
Jurgen Klopp’s extremely strong Reds produced the professional performance and clinical finishing needed to see off the Brewers and seal their place in round three.
A clever finish from Divock Origi after brilliant play from man-of-the-match Sadio Mane put the Reds ahead 15 minutes in, before Roberto Firmino notched a second with a bullet header from Nathaniel Clyne cross, to give the Reds a 2-0 half-time advantage.
Klopp’s side added a deserved gloss to the score-line after the break, with an own-goal from Tom Naylor making it 3-0, before a sharp five-minute brace from substitute Daniel Sturridge completed the scoring in a second period that worryingly saw Emre Can and Divock Origi pick up, hopefully, minor injuries.
It was a much-improved display from the Reds, re-establishing an element of confidence ahead of Saturday’s tough trip to Tottenham.
Here’s how social media reacted to the thrashing.

No skidmarks in #lfc's first trip to the Pirelli stadium. Hopefully they've gained some traction ahead of the Spurs game on the weekend.

Lower league opposition etc. But Matip’s looked very assured. Everyone slagging the defence forgets him & Karius yet to play. #LFC

Fantastic performance.
Mane on a different planet, clearest MOTM in the history of TIA.
Mane has been excellent in both games, offering pace and intensity. Tonight also proved how deadly Sturridge is in the box. Few better.
