A second-half flurry was enough to turn frustration into elation for Liverpool and secure a 3-0 victory at Watford.
Watford 0-3 Liverpool
Premier League, Vicarage Road
November 24, 2018
Goals: Salah 67′, Alexander-Arnold 76′, Firmino 88′
For large parts of the encounter at Vicarage Road Liverpool were left to grow increasingly frustrated as their rhythm and forward impetus continued to elude them on their return from the international break.
Jurgen Klopp’s men struggled to break down a stubborn Watford outfit in the first half, but Liverpool’s star man in Mohamed Salah was again on hand in the second term to land a fatal blow and send the Reds on their way to collect all three points.
A stunning free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold and a late goal from Roberto Firmino ensured all three points head back to Merseyside, but it was not without late drama as Jordan Henderson needlessly found himself shown a red card after a second bookable offence.
Here’s how supporters reacted to the result on social media and our forums.
The victory was not straightforward, but fans were pleased to see the Reds continue their winning ways…
It’s amazing to think we are only 2 points behind City(who look invincible)and we are still in 2nd gear?well done to the lads at a difficult venue today!

#LFC have 33 points from 13 games – their highest ever tally in the Premier League era.
They've also conceded their fewest number of goals after this many matches of a league season (5 goals).

“A win is a win. All us fans know a year or 2 ago we lose games like this. Now it’s 3-0 wins. Ill take it.”

That's the sort of game which comes as the pre-christmas test and always hits hard. Klopp's reaction after Firmino wrapped it up today tells you all you need to know. #LFCdigest

Lovely stuff. Not free flowing today, but an excellent away performance.

“Tough place to go Watford and get 3pts..well done boys and a clean sheet.”
Stephen Lefebvre on Facebook.
“Feels like a big result to come out and batter them second half. We were patient and it has paid off – this is the blueprint Klopp is trying to install this season.” – RedForever2014 on the forums.
Another huge victory. Winning 3-0 away to a really impressive Watford side, without playing that well, is so encouraging.
Performance levels do need to improve, though. That shouldn't be ignored.

#LFC now on their best points haul after 13 games of a Premier League season – 33. All the talk at half-time concerned Manchester City running away with the Premier League, but the Reds end their game with the same amount of goals and – crucially – points.

Fans were less impressed with Henderson’s needless dismissal…
There's no defending what Henderson has done there. Just stupid.

Don’t mind a player showing a bit of passion, getting stuck in, taking the obvious yellow but FFS Henderson should know better.
Maybe Klopp should have subbed him earlier but he’s the club Captain and an experienced one at that. Keep your mouth shut and do the simple stuff.” – T.C.B on the forums.
Judging by his performance tonight I'm not entirely sure we will miss Jordon Henderson. What a stupid decision though absolutely no need to do that.

You could see that Henderson red card coming a mile off.
What a moronic thing to do.

“What an absolute idiot. Ridiculous attempt at a tackle.
Clueless.” – Redsi73 on the forums.

Poor from Henderson. Absolutely no need to act like that. A leader has to have better composure on the field. We all knew a red was coming.

Despite collecting three points, frustrations continue to simmer over positional changes which have hindered both Firmino and Salah…

“Whilst we continue to accommodate Mo going through the middle, we will nullify Bobbys’ effectiveness, it just isn’t working…….awful half of football.” – Libero on the forums.
Dropping off has always been part of Firmino’s game, enabling him to link up & interchange with Mane and Salah. However, it’s now got to the stage where he’s rarely in and around the danger zone to make things happen. Desperately need to get him higher up the pitch.

Salah playing up front just doesn’t work
— Cai Johnson ??????? (@CaiRJohnson) November 24, 2018
“Yeah I don’t understand playing 3 forwards in positions that are not their best.
Salah is better on the right side cutting in.Bobby is better at 9.
Shaqiri is better at 10.Why is 75% of the front four out of position?”- RedForever2014 on the forums.
Liverpool pissing me off. Firmino is too deep, Shaqiri needs to be further forward and Salah should be on the right
