The much-anticipated showdown between Liverpool and title rivals Man City ended at 0-0 after late drama at Anfield, and supporters felt it was a fair result.
Liverpool 0-0 Man City
Premier League, Anfield
October 7, 2018
A hard-fought, frenetic contest ended all square as the Reds managed to grind out a valuable point against the reigning Premier League champions.
Liverpool ultimately have Riyad Mahrez to thank for taking a point after the Algerian blazed a woeful penalty into the upper tier of the Anfield Road end five minutes from time.
Here’s how supporters reacted to the result across social media and on our forums.
Fans voiced concerns over the lack of midfield creativity and tiredness…

Grand scheme of things would I take a 0-0 after that? Yes. Am I slightly concerned by the decreased firepower? Yes. Just feels like the linkage between midfield and forwards has been below par so far this season.

“Pleased to have come out with a point considering the current form of many players, but make no mistake this situation cannot go on. We need to rediscover our groove and fast.”
– RedArma on the forums.
Keita looks unsure of his exact role within team for me. Midfield balance looked good start of season but tired now. Not surprised given the workload last couple of weeks.

Keita is playing like he's frightened.
— Joseph Cousins (@JCuzzy1) October 7, 2018
“Disappointed with our lack of creativity and attacking thrust through the middle. Thought Keita might have provided that but he hasn’t been able to do it.”
– MalboroMan on the forums.

“Once again no cutting edge, no fluidity, no rock and roll.”
– Kieran David on Facebook.
Gini & Henderson did well together. Thought Naby was non existent. Not meeting the high expectations set so far.
Front 3 not getting really a kick.
— Jay (@Jay82_LFC) October 7, 2018
“The midfield three also lack creativity, all grit and gile but no spark nothing going forward.”
– Dave D on the forums.

Now we don't need a dogged 3 man midfield against the dross, we can accommodate Shaqiri into the 3 more often. Ox hasn't been replaced & we need a signing in January in that position for sure.

The upcoming international break is going to be a massive positive for us. The team struggled with fitness in the last two games, haven’t won in 4 games and unable to play our very best. Big positive is that we’ve already played 3 of the top 6 already.

Fans singled out various Reds for good performances, with Lovren earning lots of praise…
Henderson and Lovren definitely up there for MOTM contenders. Both were excellent.
— LFC Fans Corner (@LFCFansCorner) October 7, 2018
Wijnaldum my Man of the Match. vs a Big team, in a home game, you just know he'll impress. It's his speciality.
— Red (@TaintlessRed) October 7, 2018
“Lovren was boss today.”
– Indian Scouser on the forums.
Gini MOTM for me. ??
— kop in full voice (@LFC_Bantz) October 7, 2018
“Lovren MOM. Considering he hasn’t played much since the World Cup final. Just brilliant.”
– Won-it-at-a-turk Stadium on the forums.
Fans felt a draw was the right result and took a positive outlook to what is ahead…
0-0 is probably the right result for this one.
— Jim Boardman (@JimBoardman) October 7, 2018
no one deserved any more than a 0-0
— nate (@natefc) October 7, 2018
Still unbeaten in the league and very much proving that despite being far from their best, this team can challenge. A good point especially given the late drama.
— Leanne Prescott (@_lfcleanne) October 7, 2018
Full time. Not a great day at the office, once again important that we didn't lose. Nearly did. But luck again on our side again. Just had confirmation that the ball has landed in Algeria. International break has come at a good time I guess. Need to regroup.

5 points and unbeaten from Spurs, Chelsea and City. Taking that like free chips and salsa.

A draw was a fair result. I'dve taken it before the match started. We've had a tough run of fixtures and players out of form, a draw is decent against such a strong team.

I said a few weeks back if we could get through this period of fixtures and still be in the mix then I’d snap your hand off for that. I just hope the front three can start to be a bit more clinical in upcoming supposedly easier fixtures. Game on. #LFC

Two very good teams cancel each other out. It happens. In a great position in the table considering the fixtures we've had
— John Gibbons (@johngibbonsblog) October 7, 2018
We aren’t playing our best football and are still unbeaten and joint top. Not bad really!
— View of the Kop (@ViewOfTheKop_) October 7, 2018
20/24 points having already played Spurs Chelsea and City is a great start to the season. For once I’m glad of an international break, hopefully the boys who aren’t playing can rest effectively and the others can go off and find their groove. This run of fixtures has been tough
