Liverpool edged past Brighton with a 1-0 victory at Anfield to maintain their 100 percent winning start to the new campaign.
After securing a big three points at Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp’s side returned to Anfield looking to continue the fast start to the season with a third straight win.
A confident Brighton side fresh from beating Man United stood in the way but the Reds did just enough to win the first three games of a Premier League season for the first time since 2013/14.
Klopp shared a nice embrace pre-match with Brighton boss Chris Hughton, who spoke glowingly about the Reds in the buildup to the game.
Klopp named an unchanged team for the third game running and the in-form Reds were lively from the outset, with Roberto Firmino busy in attack.
After a quiet start the deadlock was broken after 23 minutes.
It was that man Mohamed Salah on the scoresheet, with the Egyptian rolling an inch-perfect finish into the far corner after great work from James Milner to win possession.
Liverpool continued to dominate, with Gini Wijnaldum particularly impressive in midfield.
Andy Robertson was full of running up and down the left flank.
Chances came and went to kill the game and Brighton pushed all the way for a late equaliser…
But the visitors were denied by a world-class stop from Alisson—a save worthy of every penny of the £65 million paid.
Liverpool held on to claim a third straight win and clean sheet which takes the Reds to the top of the Premier League table—never a bad sight even if it is after three games!
Klopp and his team will be hoping make it four wins from four when the Reds head to Leicester for a lunchtime kickoff next Saturday.
