Confirmed Liverpool lineup vs. Everton: Clyne & Ings start in experimental lineup

Jurgen Klopp has made five changes to his Liverpool side for Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton, as he confronts multiple injuries.

The Reds take on their city rivals having thrashed Man City at Anfield three days previous, but with a return trip to the Etihad to come on Tuesday their focus is split.

While victory over Everton at Goodison Park will be a major boost both in terms of the top-four race and, fundamentally, morale, rotation during a busy period is vital.

As a result, and factoring in the absences of six first-team players, Klopp has named an altered selection to that which thrived in the Champions League.

Loris Karius starts in goal, behind an expected back three of Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and the returning Ragnar Klavan, who makes his first outing since March 6.

Jordan Henderson keeps his place in midfield, with a yellow card against City ruling him out of the second leg, and is joined by Georginio Wijnaldum.

They will likely be flanked by Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner operating as wing-backs, with the former making his maiden appearance of the campaign after a lengthy injury.

And in attack, Sadio Mane and Dominic Solanke line up alongside Danny Ings, who was the subject of considerable praise from Klopp in his pre-match press conference.

This marks Ings’ first start under the manager, and he will be looking to score his first senior goal since he struck in the 1-1 draw with Everton at the same ground back in 2015.
