Liverpool U23s midfielder Ovie Ejaria has joined Championship strugglers Sunderland on loan, gaining further experience at the Stadium of Light.
Ejaria made eight appearances for the Reds’ first team last season, but failed to add to his tally in the first six months of the current campaign.
The England U20 international had struggled with an ankle injury, but featured regularly for Neil Critchley‘s U23s.
He scored the winner in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Derby County in Premier League 2, in what proved to be his last outing before joining the Black Cats.
The 20-year-old will spend the rest of the season in the north east, as he bids for a long-term future under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

“I’m really happy because I’ve wanted to go out on loan for a while to get regular first-team football under my belt,” Ejaria told SAFC.com.
“I’d say that I’m a player that likes to get on the ball quite a lot and make things happen, I’ll try to create chances and hopefully score some goals as well.
“I’ll always give 100 percent and work hard for the team.”
Sunderland are currently 22nd in the Championship, a point off bottom-placed Burton Albion, and Chris Coleman will be hoping Ejaria’s creativity and eye for goal can boost his survival hopes.
Coleman had previously sought a loan deal for Ben Woodburn, but Klopp opted to block any exit for the 18-year-old following Philippe Coutinho‘s £142 million move to Barcelona.
All the best, Ovie!
