Liverpool have learned who they will face in the Champions League group stage, with the Reds handed a kind task to make it into the knockout rounds.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side dispatched of Hoffenheim 4-2 at Anfield on Wednesday evening, with their 6-3 aggregate win enough to see them qualify for the Champions League “proper”.
They will take on Spartak Mascow, Sevilla and KN Maribor in Group E, and avoided a group of death involving Bayern Munich and PSG, and another with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in it.
It is just the second time Liverpool have reached this stage since 2009/10, with their last campaign in 2014/15 a dire one, and they will look to get revenge on Sevilla after last year’s Europa League final defeat.
Here’s the best of the social media reaction to Thursday’s draw in Monaco.
Take that group all day long. #LFC #UCLDraw

Taking nothing for granted, but Liverpool *should* be playing Champions League football in 2018.

Ron Suazo on Facebook:
I say Liverpool shouldn’t be cocky. The draw is reasonable but the travel looks brutal.

Based on combined @EuroClubIndex rankings, Liverpool are in the weakest group. Also true if ignore lowest ranked teams #maribor pic.twitter.com/jyTfMDq6Po

Usama Malik on Facebook:
We should progress no excuses, but we probably would’ve had an even better chance of progression if we were in one of the tougher groups.
Who said FSG don't spend money, clearly a bribe with that draw ?

#LFC v Spartak Moscow. Played 4 times competitively. Winning 2, losing 2. Last meeting was 2002 #UCL, we won 3-1. @themichaelowen hat-trick. pic.twitter.com/tKXpSdJL2B

Probably as good as you could get.
Been a bit lucky there.
Still got to beat them, though.

Sam Palmer on Facebook:
Literally the best possible Group apart from maybe Porto instead of Sevilla, got to go for it after that.
Is the draw over then? I'm only asking because I haven't seen them take out Arsenal's ball.
— Boring Milner (@BoringMilner) August 24, 2017
VVD had a clause in his contract that we had to get those teams in our group, should be a formality now ??

What a massive chance for Liverpool to improve reputation, finances, coefficient…everything. Got to get through, no mistake.
