Liverpool bounced back from Monday evening’s defeat with a commanding 3-1 victory over Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal
Premier League, Anfield
March 4, 2017
Goals: Firmino 9′, Mane 41′, Wijnaldum 90+1′; Welbeck 57′
Liverpool went into the fixture in need of a victory following a hugely disappointing performance against Leicester City on Monday evening.
Jurgen Klopp made just one change to the side which lost 3-1, as Ragnar Klavan came into the starting lineup ahead of Lucas at centre-back.
Daniel Sturridge was ruled out with an injury but Emre Can retained his place in midfield despite criticism of late.
It was a strong start for the Reds as they dominated possession before Roberto Firmino opened the scoring after just nine minutes.
Sadio Mane doubled the lead shortly before half-time to round off an impressively 45 minutes from Liverpool.
Arsenal came out firing in the second half though, and Danny Welbeck netted a goal as the visitors mounted a comeback.
Liverpool were able to hold on before Georginio Wijnaldum grabbed a late goal in stoppage time to seal the victory.
Here’s how supporters saw the Reds’ emphatic win on social media.
Fans were delighted when Firmino opened the scoring…
Thought Firmino's first touch was going to cost him there but still manages to beat Cech from Mane's cross. 1-0 #LFC Just the start needed..

Fantastic low drilled cross from Sadio Mané, and a well taken goal from Firmino. Great start!

Brilliant move, great ball by Mane. So easy against them big sides ?

But Welbeck’s goal wasn’t pleasing…
“This is why we need to keep our collective foot on the gas and score goals without relenting…”

Season defining half hour here, potentially.

Excellent overall performance. Lallana was superb tonight, out-Firmino'd Firmino today. Mane excellent, obviously ?

Brilliant. Felt like we needed a win like that, we dug in and defended really well. Lallana was exceptional today, my man of the match.

“I can’t understand the inconsistency from us but today was the Liverpool side we all want to see every game! The team that was out playing everyone before the new year”

Totally deserving of the 3pts.

3-1 what a game ???????
— Sarah LFC (@Sarah_LFC92) March 4, 2017
Two sides to that performance – attacking verve in the first and defensive grit and composure in the second. Massive win.
— Leanne Prescott (@_lfcleanne) March 4, 2017
“Lallana man of the match for sure. Absolutely massive performance by him. Tackles, touches, through balls, heart. My mind is blown.”
– Pecl on the forums.
Best bit about today was when Mané passed it five yards to himself and bamboozled Monreal in front of the Kop
