Liverpool opened the season with a 4-3 win at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, in an unforgettable Premier League match. We round-up the best social media reaction.
Being a Liverpool is not good for your health!
A remarkable game at the Emirates saw the Reds pick up maximum points in their opening game of the season, but they almost allowed the Gunners to earn an unlikely draw.
Theo Walcott gave the hosts a first-half lead, having had his penalty saved by Simon Mignolet a minute earlier, but a stunning Philippe Coutinho free-kick levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time.
A wonderful spell early in the second-half saw Adam Lallana make it 2-1, Coutinho add a third and debutant Sadio Mane rifled home an unstoppable fourth.
But Arsenal responded and Liverpool’s game-management was poor. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers both scored to make it 4-3, but Liverpool held on in an incredibly tense finale.
Here’s how social media reacted to a balmy victory:
Victory for #LFC and a chance to build early momentum. For #AFC it is a 3rd opening day defeat in 4 years. pic.twitter.com/D8CqVSohyV

Klopp has now won at the Emirates, Stamford Bridge and the Etihad. Old Trafford and Goodison Park still to go…

Tough ground to win at for Liverpool, we hardly ever do, so that will do nicely. Not sure where it ranks in the LFC 4-3 wins league table.

And to think that some people were genuinely annoyed when we signed Mane.

Going to need a new heart by January at this rate! Middle 3 and front 3 fantastic and Klavan looks like an absolute steal. Give us a new LB and we could be in for a great season!
Think we're gonna have a laugh this season. #lfc pic.twitter.com/KPpvGpcA2P

Frustrating, football nirvana and suicidal defending. Liverpool back in the premier league.

Massive win that. Mane and Coutinho will do some serious damage this season.

We looked really disorganised at times, almost like we’re still in pre-season. While many are likely to credit individual errors for the goals, I think overall once we sharpen up our team play, those mistakes will be cut out.

MANÉ IS A MONSTER . Simple as that . I can feel excitement and hope
Hopefully some or all of Karius, Can, Matip and Sakho being fully fit can finally resolve the long term #LFC defensive problems

This could be the season where Coutinho reaches the next level. Outstanding today. As for Mané, what a sensational debut goal. Superb.

Quick word for Henderson too. Excellent display, covered well, drove on in second half and used the ball well. Best game with the armband
