Liverpool have signed Steven Caulker on loan until the end of the season, and we take a look at how social media reacted to the news.
The news of Caulker’s temporary move to Anfield was confirmed on Tuesday lunchtime, in a transfer that escalated very quickly.
The 24-year-old joins from Queens Park Rangers, following a loan spell with Southampton, and goes straight into contention for Wednesday’s Premier League clash at home to Arsenal.
Twitter was split when it came to hearing about Caulker’s arrival, with some labelling it a shrewd piece of business and other bemoaning the signing.
Here is the best of the reaction:
FOR
Get behind the lad. We're going to need him judging by our injury record.

Given how often JK said he didn't want to sign anyone in Jan, a loan move for an uninjured player purely to get thru a crisis is fine by me

Will only get annoyed at the Caulker deal if it gets permanent in the summer. Not good enough, but an ok stop-gap to cover injuries.

If Klopp can make a decent defender out of Lovren I'm inclined to believe he can help get Caulker's career back on track.

Nervously touting Caulker as a success. As a risk-free loan signing, he's a markedly better central defender than Jose Enrique and Lucas.

Seriously though, can't complain at Caulker deal. Experienced and clearly has potential. Ilori not ready so no choice really.

LFC are still getting Matip in the summer so worst case: Caulker does nothing, defense stays the same. best case: Caulker gets Skrtel sold.

I really hope Liverpool try and play a CB partnership of Skrtel and Caulker at some stage. It would be comedy gold.

Linked with Neven Subotic. Sign Steven Caulker on loan. Liverpool Football Club.

Gone from Steven Gerrard to Steven Caulker… Dreadful #lfc

Caulker should fit right with Liverpool's back four.

Caulker is like Martin Škrtel who doesn't even bother to pretend to act hard.

So looking like Touré and Caulker against Arsenal. All the best, lads!
