Liverpool put supporters through the motions in a remarkable 5-4 victory away to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
Norwich City 4-5 Liverpool
Premier League – Carrow Road – Saturday 23rd January 2016
Goals: Firmino 18′, 63′, Henderson 55′, Milner 75′, Lallana 90+4′; Mbokani 29′, Naismith 41′, Hoolahan 54′ (pen), Bassong 90+3′
Adding to a long line of incredible scorelines between Liverpool and Norwich, a late Adam Lallana strike sealed an breathtaking victory for the Reds.
Roberto Firmino scored twice, while both Jordan Henderson and James Milner added to their tallies for the season.
But defensive errors undermined Liverpool’s attacking brilliance, seeing goals from Norwich‘s Dieumerci Mbokani, Steven Naismith, Wes Hoolahan and Sebastian Bassong.
With the clock running down, Lallana found himself in the perfect position to fire home the winner, sparking the travelling Kop into life and sealing a 5-4 win for the Reds.
Here’s how supporters reacted to Saturday’s nine-goal thriller at Carrow Road.
Starting slowly, with Norwich enjoying the majority of possession in dangerous areas, Liverpool looked to be suffering from a hangover from Wednesday night’s FA Cup action.
Awful so far, this. Reminds me of a primary school lunch break game

This is us trying to entice a rubbish team to attack and love us space to counter
— SimonBrundish (@SimonBrundish) January 23, 2016
Against the run of play however, starting centre-forward Firmino benefited from an excellent pass from Milner to bundled the ball past Declan Rudd to put the Reds 1-0 up.
BOBBY F!

Get in! @Roberto_Firmino #LFC

So happy for him!

First time we've supported Firmino all game and we get a goal. Good work.
— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) January 23, 2016
It wasn’t long before Norwich pegged Liverpool back, with Mbokani sending a powerful backheeled effort through Simon Mignolet, provoking a familiar reaction from supporters.
First shot on target klaxon.

Ban corners. Ban them.

Hell of a finish from Mbokani but that's some of the most comical set piece defending you'll see this year.

This misery was compounded as an emphatic Naismith run saw the ex-Everton midfielder put Norwich 2-1 ahead, with Mignolet, Henderson and Lucas Leiva all culpable.

What is Henderson playing at?
— John O'Sullivan (@NotoriousJOS) January 23, 2016
Lucas is waiting for his bus back to Merseyside there.
— Luke (@LFCLuke95) January 23, 2016
Hahahaha Lucas watching Naismith walk past him ?
— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) January 23, 2016
At least Mignolet has another five years to save one at some point
— Karl Matchett (@karlmatchett) January 23, 2016
This saw supporters head into half-time with a feeling of apathy.
No keeper
No RCB
No DM
Questionable captain
No goals from midfield
No orthodox striker#LFC— John O'Sullivan (@NotoriousJOS) January 23, 2016
We seem to be getting worse… @LFC
— Jack Williams (@JLWi11iams) January 23, 2016
Groundhog Day. Another away trip where Liverpool look totally disinterested. No urgency, desire or idea. Shocking.
— Aaron Cutler (@aaron_cutler) January 23, 2016
Hoolahan piled on the disappointment, benefiting from a poor Alberto Moreno challenge to fire a penalty kick into the Liverpool net, giving Norwich a two-goal lead.
What on earth is Moreno doing there? Complete stupidity.
— James Pearce (@JamesPearceLFC) January 23, 2016
Moreno stop shaking your head both challenges were penalties.
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) January 23, 2016
This didn’t last for long however, with Liverpool desperate to secure a result, and Henderson grabbed one back minutes later with a first-time volley.
What the Henderson?! 3-2?!
— Leroy | LFC Impulse (@LFCImpulse) January 23, 2016
Hendo doing what the captain should do, getting his side back into it. 3-2.
— Jim Boardman (@JimBoardman) January 23, 2016
Yes! Jordan!
— Sai (@TheEngancheRole) January 23, 2016
Firmino then levelled the scores by prodding home following a perfectly weighted cross from Lallana.
Roberto Firmino carrying this #LFC team. What a player!

Norwich gifted Milner with a goal shortly after, with Russell Martin’s shocking backpass giving the vice-captain the opportunity to slot the ball beyond Rudd.

MILNER! Now a 3/10!
— Henry Jackson (@HenryJackson87) January 23, 2016
Horrendous game of defensive mistakes compounded by the ultimate in idiocy – the no-look back-pass.

A powerful finish from Norwich centre-back Bassong look set to consign the Reds to a disappointing draw…
Our defence is horrendous, the lot of it

Liverpool are an embarrassment

…but Lallana’s strike soon followed, with Klopp’s passionate celebration, joining his side on the touchline, captured the overwhelming joy of the Liverpool support.

The most I have celebrated a Liverpool goal in a long, long time! SENSATIONAL!
— Henry Jackson (@HenryJackson87) January 23, 2016
"Adam Lallana changed the game."
Never in a million years would I thought I'd say that.
— Leroy | LFC Impulse (@LFCImpulse) January 23, 2016
No Premier League team has scored more goals after the 75th minute than Liverpool (7) since Jürgen Klopp's appointment.
Never say die.

— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) January 23, 2016
I love that passion from Klopp, I'd much much rather see a manager going nuts than jotting some notes in a book
— Lynsey Hipgrave (@lynseyhipgrave1) January 23, 2016
How do you sum that up in 140 characters? Felt like jumping out of the press box and celebrating with Jürgen and the lads at 5-4. #LFC

It was a wholly unexpected outcome to an early afternoon outing at Carrow Road, but Klopp’s joy underlines the significance of this result.
Liverpool will now take on Stoke City in Tuesday night’s League Cup semi-final second leg with a renewed sense of optimism.
