With Brendan Rodgers’ reign as Liverpool manager coming to an end of Sunday evening, Liverpool fans took to social media to react.
Rodgers’ three-year spell as Liverpool manager was brought to an abrupt end after the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Merseyside rivals Everton on Sunday afternoon, with the club announcing the 42-year-old “will leave his post with immediate effect.”
An unpopular figure among Reds supporters towards the end of his Anfield tenure, Rodgers’ departure has largely been greeted with positivity.
Here’s the best of the supporter reaction from social media:
You know things are bad at LFC when the most excited you have felt in months is when your manager has been sacked.

It needed to happen. But I take zero pleasure in it. I was desperate for him to succeed & believed he would. Such a shame. Cheers for 13/14.

Can't really argue with the Rodgers decision, but timing odd so soon into a new season.

Thanks for everything Brendan Rodgers. I'll never forget the 13/14 season. All the best in the future!

Thank you Brendan Rodgers for 2013/14 – closest we've got since we last won it. Unfortunate it didn't work out.

If Liverpool's owners had lost faith in Brendan Rodgers why give him such a brief chance to restore their confidence? Mismanagement by FSG.
— Paul Hayward (@_PaulHayward) October 4, 2015
He almost became a legend. A small slip away from Scouse immortality. Football really is about fine margins.
— Propaganda (@propagandaphoto) October 4, 2015
FSG gave Rodgers a lot more chances and a lot more support than owners at any other top club would've done.

He's a bright young manager. He'll have more experience than most in his age. Learn from it & he can definitely be a top manager eventually.

Rodgers produced the best football and season I'd seen in 20 odd years supporting #lfc. Can only thank him 13-14 season, was scintillating.

Just wasn't right in the end, so close to greatness too.I'd imagine he'll get the England job some time!

I've absolutely hated the Brendan Rodgers era at #LFC.
Hate is a strong word, I know, but I really believe he was very poor for 18 months.— Alan Hoey (@Alan_Hoey) October 4, 2015
Always sad to see anyone lose his job. But this was a long time coming for Rodgers. Should have happened last May.

Thanks for 13/14 Brendan, it was genuinely unbelievable and you're never gonna get the credit for it you deserve now.

WATCH RODGERS’ FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE FROM THIS AFTERNOON AT GOODISON PARK:
We have a young and exciting squad overall. Need a manager that's a winner. Anyone apart from Ancelotti or Klopp would be disappointing.

You've done the first part right, lads, now, for the love of Christ, go and get Klopp
— John O'Sullivan (@NotoriousJOS) October 4, 2015
Enough of the experimenting. Time for a proven manager and a proven recruitment and transfer structure. Onwards and upwards. #lfc

The title is open, no team can get massively ahead, Int’l break to bed new man in, January window £. All in new man’s favour.

Klopp is made for Liverpool: the job is about charisma, drive, some mad belief…and making a non-stellar squad more than sum of its parts
