Liverpool full-back Andre Wisdom will make a season-long loan move to Norwich City.
The 22-year-old’s Anfield future has been called into question in recent weeks, and having spent last season at West Brom, he looks set for another stint away from Merseyside – despite signing a new deal this summer.
The news is reported by several media on Tuesday, with a £1.25 million fee involved.
It will be Wisdom’s third successive season out on loan, having been at West Brom last season and Derby County the year before.
The Englishman has struggled to break into the Reds’ first-team under Brendan Rodgers, despite 19 appearances in 2012/13, and a temporary move elsewhere will benefit both club and player.
The arrival of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton has further dented Wisdom’s chances of making a push for regular football, while Alberto Moreno remains first-choice left-back.
With Joe Gomez impressing on the left and Jon Flanagan returning in the not too distant future, Wisdom would likely have featured very little next season.
Whether or not the youngster will ever make the grade at Liverpool remains to be seen, but it’s important that he keeps getting regular playing time in order to keep improving.
