Liverpool are in talks to to sign former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, although the deal may not go through on transfer deadline day.
Valdes has been a free agent since his contract at the Camp Nou expired this summer meaning any deal for the 32-year-old would not need to go through by Monday night’s deadline of 11pm BST.
Radio station talkSPORT reported Liverpool’s interest in the Spanish shotstopper early on Monday morning, before The Times journalist Tony Barrett claimed the same on Twitter:
Liverpool have lined up a move for Victor Valdes but are prepared to wait until the autumn in order for the free agent to prove his fitness.

Valdes is currently a one-club player, having played for Barcelona‘s first team for 12 years and coming through their youth set up.
Having torn his anterior cruciate ligament in a La Liga game in March this year, Barcelona‘s signing of German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer ended Valdes’ stay with the Catalan giant.
