Under strength Liverpool hold Spurs

Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham
Pre-season Friendly

Fabio Borini made his LFC debut in the second half
Liverpool ended their pre-season tour of North America with a goalless draw against Premier League rivals Tottenham in Baltimore on Saturday afternoon.

The result means the Reds are yet to win during their pre-season campaign, which has seen them also get a draw with Toronto in Canada and a defeat to Roma in Boston, USA.

However, with a Europa League qualifying round tie away to FC Gomel next week, Brendan Rodgers and his team can take a lot from today’s draw against Andre Villas-Boas’ men.

With Spurs fielding a relatively strong side, Liverpool’s line-up was against a mixture of youth and players you could expect to warm the bench this coming season.

The second half saw appearances from Steven Gerrard, Andy Carroll, Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva and new striker Fabio Borini.

Midfielder Alberto Aquilani was not involved, amid reports that he is set to leave the club this week.

Liverpool (First half): Jones, Enrique, Skrtel, Carragher, Flanagan, Spearing, Shelvey, Adam, Cole, Downing, Morgan.

Liverpool (Second half substitutes): Gulacsi, Henderson, Sterling, Wisdom, Sama, Wilson, Robinson, Lucas, Borini, Eccleston, Carroll, Gerrard.

So Liverpool return to Merseyside and then onto Belarus for the Europa League tie on Thursday evening. Kick-off at Gomel is 7pm.
