With Liverpool lying in the important fourth place Champions League spot, victory in this 1.30pm kick-off on Sunday would do their chances of cementing that fourth position the world of good.

As of the start of the weekend, fifth place Everton are just three points behind Liverpool.

The Reds will be without long-term absentees Daniel Agger and Harry Kewell through injury, whilst Jermaine Pennant remains sidelined with a hamstring injury picked up in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

Javier Mascherano remains suspended following his three match ban for his red card and consequent behaviour against Manchester United last month at Old Trafford.

There will be a minute’s silence at Anfield before the match to remember the 96 fans killed in the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster.
