Goalscorer Peter Crouch has hailed Sunday afternoon’s Community Shield victory over Chelsea at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium as ‘œa good start to the season’.
Crouch scored Liverpool’s winner in the 2-1 victory, heading in a Craig Bellamy cross with ten minutes to go. Earlier John Arne Riise’s 9th minute wonder goal had been cancelled out by Andriy Shevchenko on the stroke of half time.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the England international striker said, “I want to win things and this is a good start to the season. We hope it is going to be a good season. People say it’s not important to win the Community Shield but you see the fans and the players and see it is important.”
