The European Champions outclassed the Kiwis with Torres on fine form with three fantastic early finishes.

Torres opened the scoring with a beautifully curled shot from the edge of the area, proving to the world his sheer class before doubling Spain’s lead, sidefooting from six yards just minutes later.

His third came just twenty minutes into the game when he powerfully headed home to send Spain into cruise control.

Arsenal‘s Cesc Fabregas and Valencia’s David Villa added a fourth and fifth as Spain sent out warning signals to other nations ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Xabi Alonso and Albert Riera also made the Spain starting line-up for the rout, with Pepe Reina and Alvaro Arbeloa making the bench.

The Confederations Cup continues tonight in Johannesburg with Brazil playing Egypt and USA against Italy.

Spain are next in action against Iraq on Wednesday afternoon (3pm BST kick-off).
