Skrtel injury update and confusion

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has hinted that defender Martin Skrtel could feature in tomorrow’s Premier League clash at home to Stoke City at Anfield, despite the player’s agent revealing this morning that the Slovakian internatinal is sidelined for two weeks.

Skrtel is suffering from a cracked jaw after his first half collision with Jamie Carragher during the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

Earlier today Skrtel’s agent, Karol Crson, revealed, ‘œAccording to the doctors, Martin should be back in action within two weeks and he should be wearing a special mask.’

But Benitez revealed this afternoon that Skrtel could still play in tomorrow’s game, whilst he had updates on the injuries to other central defenders Daniel Agger and Jamie Carragher.

“We have to wait. Daniel Agger will be out for at least two or three more weeks. Skrtel was training this morning and we will decide tomorrow. Jamie Carragher is okay.”

Should Skrtel be forced to miss tomorrow’s game (kick-off 8pm), Spanish youngster Daniel Ayala is expected to step in at centre-back.
