Alonso “feeling good” at Anfield

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso says he is enjoying life at Liverpool, feeling good and feeling that he is playing well, in the face of speculation linking him with a big-money move to Real Madrid.

Alonso spoke to the club’s official web site after fans voted him Man of the Match seven times throughout the 2008/09 campaign.

He said, “That’s a nice tribute from the fans. In most of our games, we often have a lot of contenders for man of the match.

“Normally it is the more spectacular attacking or goalscoring players who get the awards and so it is nice for me to be recognised and receive that treatment from the fans as well.

“This means it has been a complete season for me. I have felt good and feel I have been playing well too.”

Reports in this morning’s papers suggested Real Madrid are preparing a cash plus player swap bid to take Alonso to the Bernabeu this summer.
