Xabi Alonso has been voted the TIA Player of the Month for November 2008, ahead of Steven Gerrard and Dirk Kuyt.
Alonso continued to impress in November, having also won the fans’ praise for October, during a season so far which has seen him firmly establish himself as one of the first names on Rafa Benitez’s teamsheet after almost being sold in the summer.
November saw Liverpool slip to their first two defeats – both against Spurs – while progressing in Europe with a narrow win over Marseille and a lucky draw with Atletico. But it was the League were the Reds’ enjoyed most success, with wins over West Brom and Bolton and a draw to Fulham.
Alonso collected 64% of the votes in the forums, with Gerrard next on 16%, closely followed by Kuyt with 12%.
