Liverpool Football Club wakes up this morning with two World Cup winners at the club after Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina’s Spain beat Holland 1-0 in the World Cup Final last night at Soccer City in Johannesburg.

It took Spain 116 minutes to make the breakthrough in the match after both teams had missed a variety of chances, forcing excellent saves from both goalkeepers.

In a fiery contest, in which English referee Howard Webb brandished 14 yellow cards and one red card, it was Andres Iniesta’s late extra time strike that sealed a memorable victory for the Spanish.

It is the first time Spain have won the World Cup, whilst Holland were left walking away disappointed again.

Reds attacker Dirk Kuyt started the game for the Dutch, but was taken off after 70 minutes.

Fernando Torres came on in the 105th minute for David Villa, but pulled up with a reoccurrence of his troublesome knee injury later in the game.
