Liverpool announce 25-man squad for post-season friendly in Sydney

Jurgen Klopp has named his 25-man squad for Liverpool’s post-season friendly against Sydney FC on May 24, with some key names missing out.

The Reds fly to Australia after sealing a top-four finish in the Premier League on Sunday, for a money-spinning clash with the A-League Premiers.

Ahead of the trip, Liverpool have revealed their squad for the friendly, including four legends, a host of first-team regulars, some academy talents and some big-name omissions.

Neither Emre Can or Philippe Coutinho are included, with the former named in the Germany squad for the upcoming Confederations Cup, and the latter heading to Australia with Brazil in June.

Marko Grujic also misses out, with the 21-year-old expected to be called up by Serbia for the European U21 Championship.

Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Danny Ings aren’t included due to injury, while Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo are unavailable as they are with England at the U20 World Cup in South Korea.

Rhian Brewster is involved, however, after suffering defeat in the final of European U17 Championship with England on Friday night.

Alberto Moreno, Lucas Leiva, Kevin Stewart and Daniel Sturridge are all included despite speculation over their future at the club, and they may make their last appearances on Wednesday.

Klopp will also be able to call upon Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Steve McManaman and Steven Gerrard as part of his squad in Sydney.
