Adam Bogdan “discussing” summer move to Wigan Athletic – report

Liverpool’s Adam Bogdan could be looking for an Anfield exit after it was announced the Reds could hand a deal to former Arsenal goalkeeper, Alex Manninger.

The 39 year-old Austrian has been training with Liverpool as the Reds look to improve their goalkeeping options.

The shock development could push Bogdan further down the pecking order, as Manninger would be expected to become third-choice keeper behind Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

Liverpool youngster Ryan Fulton has been allowed to join Chesterfield on loan whilst Danny Ward has committed to Huddersfield Town in a similar move.

Bogdan is believed to be unhappy with his current involvement with the squad and according to the Mail, is “discussing” a move to join Wigan Athletic.

Bogdan joined the Reds on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers last summer but the Hungarian made just six appearances for the first team and was demoted when Ward returned from his loan spell at Aberdeen.

Wigan have registered their interest in the keeper and Bogdan could depart Merseyside if Jurgen Klopp decides to sanction the signing of Manninger.

Speaking with Goal recently, Bogdan confirmed his intention to leave the club to improve his international prospects.

“The goal is to get loaned out. I could stay but I would need incredible luck or a lot of injuries to climb the ladder,” he said.

“I want to rebuild my good form. I want to play games weekly and get back to the national team.”

Bogdan recently missed out on a place in Hungary’s Euro 2016 squad and the goalkeeper’s Liverpool career looks uncertain so a move to Wigan could be just the answer.
