West Brom have made ‘no enquiry’ for Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe

Despite previous reports linking Jordon Ibe with a loan move to West Bromwich Albion, the Baggies are believed to hold no interest in the winger.

Ibe was linked with a move to the Hawthorns on Monday, with Liverpool believed to have rejected an enquiry to take the 20-year-old on loan.

Following the signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton, Ibe’s future was thrown further in doubt, with Jurgen Klopp‘s attacking options increasing.

Ibe will face competition from Mane, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Sheyi Ojo and Lazar Markovic for a starting role in 2016/17, and with the Reds without European football, his prospects of regular game time are limited.

But while a loan move would be the ideal solution at this stage, the Birmingham Mail claim that West Brom are not currently interested in signing him.

Furthermore, it is reported that West Brom “does not appear a very likely destination” this summer.

Klopp is said to be considering his options regarding Ibe, but it is possible that the former Wycombe Wanderers youth could leave Anfield before the start of 2016/17.

Ibe struggled to impose himself when called upon last season, despite making 41 appearances in all competitions.

The winger scored four goals and laid on a further four, though his excellent solo strike against the Baggies on the final day of the Premier League season hinted at more to come in the future.

The emergence of Ojo as a viable first-team option in the second half of the campaign has diminished Ibe’s prospects, with the ex-Wolves loanee seemingly more suited to Klopp’s attacking system.

With West Brom out of the race to sign Ibe, it remains to be seen where he will end up come August.
