Report: Sevilla join the hunt for Liverpool cult hero Joe Allen

Sevilla are interested in bringing Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen to the club, according to reports on Thursday morning.

Goal‘s Melissa Reddy believes the 26-year-old is now a target for the Reds’ Europa League final victors back in May.

Although the La Liga side are keen to acquire Allen’s services, it would appear that former club Swansea City remain his most likely destination.

Liverpool have placed a £10 million price tag on the Welshman’s shoulders, and Sevilla are willing to pay that, with new manager Jorge Sampaoli likely to be an admirer.

Allen has become a genuine fans’ favourite over the last 12 months, with a string of formidable performances last season increasing his popularity by the week.

His stock has risen further during Euro 2016, with some genuinely superb displays for Wales ensuring they have reached the knockout stages.

Many Liverpool supporters are desperate for Allen to sign a new contract at Anfield this summer, but he reportedly wants more first-team football.

Jurgen Klopp will struggle to guarantee that, with Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva, James Milner, Marko Grujic and potentially new signings all battling for places.

It would be a shame to see Allen move on, given his undeniable quality, but a move elsewhere feels as though it may benefit both parties.
