Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski’s fate to be decided after Euro 2016

Liverpool transfer target Piotr Zielinski’s future won’t be decided until after Euro 2016, according to reports on Thursday.

The 22-year-old is currently on international duty in France, with Poland set to meet Switzerland in the Round of 2016 on Saturday afternoon.

Football Italia claim that the midfielder will undergo a medical with Liverpool once the Euros are done and dusted midway through next month.

The Udinese youngster has been hotly-tipped to make the move to Merseyside since the start of the summer, with Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of the Pole.

Liverpool have reportedly made a £9.5 million bid for his services, and Zielinski is keen to join the Reds ahead of fellow suitors Napoli.

The Serie A club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has rather begrudgingly confirmed that Liverpool are the front-runners to sign Zielinski.

“The lad prefers Liverpool,” he said.

“Clearly he’s never been to Naples before and probably he’s in love with The Beatles. If he doesn’t want to come, then he won’t come.

“If I were him, though, I would drop everything and run here.”

Zielinski impressed during a loan spell at Empoli last season, and although far from a household name, he is seen as someone who can add quality in the middle of the park.

He has made just one appearance for Poland at Euro 2016 thus far, producing a somewhat forgettable performance against Ukraine on Tuesday.

Liverpool fans may get the chance to witness him in action again this weekend, although he may lose his place for the aforementioned showdown with Switzerland.
