Following Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, we round-up the best social media reaction from during and after the game.
A dreadful afternoon on Tyneside saw the Reds deservedly beaten by a spirited Magpies side.
Barely any players were at the races from start to finish, with Christian Benteke, Lucas Leiva and James Milner all particularly poor on the day.
The defeat is Jurgen Klopp‘s first away from home since becoming Liverpool manager, and he will no doubt be seething with his side’s performance.
Here’s the best social media reaction from the match:
Benteke somehow missed from a yard out in the first-half, and supporters weren’t too impressed:
Benteke can only score good goals it would seem.

Benteke's miss…https://t.co/Hi2kmiQtwU

How did Benteke miss that? Warm up Divock.
— DaveOCKOP (@DaveOCKOP) December 6, 2015
HAS to be scoring those.
— Henry Jackson (@HenryJackson87) December 6, 2015
It was a very disappointing first-half performance from Liverpool, with fans showing their frustration at the interval:
4 shots to 2 in Liverpool's favour, 0 on target from either side. Zzzzzz
— Andrew Beasley (@BassTunedToRed) December 6, 2015
Too many LFC players showing their negative side in that 45. Milner, Benteke, Lucas awful.
— Matt Ladson (@mattladson) December 6, 2015
Dour opening 45mins at St James' Park. #LFC very sluggish. Lack of tempo and guile going forward.

Georginio Wijnaldum put Newcastle in front midway through the second-half. It did not go down well:
Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful.

Such a Liverpool thing to do, this….. #LFC
— Graeme Kelly (@GraemeKelly1) December 6, 2015
1-0 down to a team that haven't had a shot on target. Work that one out. #LFC
— DaveOCKOP (@DaveOCKOP) December 6, 2015
The 2-0 defeat represented one of the Reds’ worst performances of the season, and supporters rued the woefulness of the performance:
Never again should we see a midfield three of Milner, Lucas and Allen. Screams mediocrity.
— Aaron Cutler (@aaron_cutler) December 6, 2015
Usual suspects let the team down, but 3 sacred cows also at fault today: Firmino, Sturridge and Klopp. Three points lost. #LFC

Another lesson for Liverpool to learn, for Klopp to teach, about playing against 'underdogs' and thinking the job is already done.

ubermick on the forum:
Frankly insipid performance. Benteke was an absolute waste of space, and on that performance (and frankly several others) looks to be a waste of an inordinate amount of money, with the occasional worldie not fair payment for repeatedly lazy performances.
Missed opportunity today after results went in our favour yesterday. Can't afford many more of these slip ups.

Brendan was in the dugout today wearing a Klopp disguise. Mission Impossible style.

Consistently inconsistent

Zinedine Biscan on the forum:
I’m livid after that. What a fantastic opportunity to stake our claim in the league and we played like a bunch of utter muppets. More annoyed by that than Palace, even.
Klopp got it wrong today with his selection. I'm sure I won't be saying that very often in the future.

Bubble burst but it was an own goal and a perfectly good disallowed goal that did for us. Let's take it out on Sion and West Bromwich Albion
— @voiceofanfield (@VoiceOfAnfield) December 6, 2015
We looked arrogant, players had no desire to work and just expected it to happen, showed no respect to NUFC and got whacked for it.

Life of a Liverpool fan…
