Rumours of the latest injury, sustained while playing the final half an hour against Newcastle on Sunday, spread via social media on Tuesday evening and was confirmed at 10.30pm by all the major news outlets.

“Another day, another injury setback for Daniel Sturridge,” reports the Guardian‘s Andy Hunter. “The Liverpool striker is set for a further spell on the sidelines after scans revealed the 26-year-old suffered a hamstring strain during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Newcastle United.

There’s a mixture of anger, frustration and sympathy for the player.
