The Reds will be looking to build on two consecutive victories against Manchester City and Bordeaux when Garry Monk’s side visit Anfield.

Top of the agenda at Klopp’s press conference was an injury update on Daniel Sturridge, who it was revealed on Thursday night had suffered a new foot injury, delaying his long-awaited return to action further.

“I understand why everybody is waiting,” Klopp told reporters. “But we have to accept the situation. Danny was very often injured [recently].

“Usually it’s not the quality of Daniel, what you need is training – your body has to learn to adapt to a new intensity of training.

“You have to learn what is serious pain & what is only pain. Everybody wants him back on the pitch but that’s what we have to learn.

“It’s not that serious, but it’s not possible to go on as before. We have to stay patient, I’m sorry to say.”
