LFC Loan Watch: Two confirmed and another expected to head out

A seventh loan departure of the summer so far was confirmed on Tuesday, with Liverpool Under-21 goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux’s move to Swindon Town being finalised.

UPDATE: Since publication, an eighth move has been confirmed, with Sheyi Ojo joining Wolves.

Vigouroux played for the League One side in Sunday’s friendly against the Reds – impressing for all but the shot which saw Sheyi Ojo score the winner.

Vigouroux was signed from Tottenham last summer, along with defender Kevin Stewart. He will again join up with Stewart, along with midfielder Jordan Williams, at Mark Cooper’s side.

“I need some games out in the real world,” explained Vigouroux.

Another youngster who impressed in Sunday’s friendly was attacker Ryan Kent – and Swindon chairman Lee Power says he’d have made it four Reds’ players to sign for the Wiltshire club if he could.

But Kent, 18, is attracting interest from Championship sides instead.

Power said: “I said to Brendan I was going to put him [Ryan] in the boot of the car and keep him here for a month!

“You could see the talent the boy has and the problem is there are many teams in the Championship that want him. We had a long chat with Brendan after and he explained that to us.

“I know that Brendan is keen for him to come to us because he said in the press that we were one of the few clubs that they would like to loan their players out to, which is quite nice for the football club.

“Attracting someone like Ryan is going to be difficult and looking very unlikely at the moment, but if he was to come then it would be a huge signing.”

Back in March, TIA’s PJ Vaughan, our resident academy observer, tipped Kent to be one of the next to progress from the academy and he went on to impress for the under-21s at the end of the campaign.

Brendan Rodgers then included the Oldham born youngster on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, making his non-competitive debut against Brisbane Roar.

Earlier this week, under-21 captain Lloyd Jones’ one-month loan to Blackpool was made a full season loan – an odd destination to pick for a player to develop at.

So far, there’s are the seven players to have been loaned out this summer:

Danny Ward (Aberdeen, season loan)
Luis Alberto (Deportivo La Coruna, season loan)
Lloyd Jones (Blackpool, season loan)
Jordan Williams (Swindon Town, season loan)
Kevin Stewart (Swindon Town, season loan)
Andre Wisdom (Norwich City, season loan)
Lawrence Vigouroux (Swindon Town, season loan)
Sheyi Ojo (Wolves, season loan)
