One potential signing being linked with a move to Merseyside is Barcelona youngster Sergi Roberto – a midfielder likened to Xavi.

The 21 year old made his Barcelona debut under Pep Guardiola in 2011 and has represented Spain Under 21s, but has featured for only 17 minutes under new boss Gerardo Martino this season.

According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, Roberto has a €20million release clause.

Liverpool aren’t the only ones said to be interested in the highly-rated youngster, the report suggests – surprise, surprise – Spurs are also tracking him.

Update: TalkSport report Liverpool may be interested in taking Roberto on loan.
