Report: Liverpool agree £5m fee for Brazilian

Liverpool have agreed a £5m fee to sign Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira, according to reports.

Brendan Rodgers has been keen to find a new left-back for the squad this summer, with Jose Enrique the only recognised left-back at the club.

The Reds has been linked with Valencia’s Aly Cissokho, but a loan move appears to have not materialised.

Now Metro report that Liverpool will pay £5m for the services of 27-year-old Siqueira.

The 27-year-old is currently thrashing out personal terms with Liverpool after they had a bid, in the region of £5million, accepted by Granada this week.

Siqueira is now due on Merseyside ahead of the move and could be eligible for Saturday’s Premier League opening weekend clash at home to Stoke City if the deal is completed swiftly.

Defensively both players are dribbled past at a similar rate with Siqueira slightly superior being dribbled past every 272 minutes compared to Enrique’s 251 however both are made to look like defensive stalwarts when comparing to Liverpool’s right back Glen Johnson who is dribbled past every 111 minutes – a shocking 29 times in 2012/13.

Siqueira has made 104 league appearances for Granada since signing, initially on loan, in 2010 from Udinese.
