LFC Transfer Rumours: Swans in for Reds midfielder, Suarez ‘breach of contract’ inquisition

A round-up of LFC transfer rumours this morning.

Jonjo Shelvey

Whilst Liverpool are looking for up to £7million for midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, £5million may still be seen as a substantial amount.

That’s the figure the Daily Mail believe Michael Laudrup’s side are prepared to pay for the services of the 21-year-old England U21 international.

Sami Mokbel writes in this morning’s paper, which is also reported in The Mirror:

Talks about a move to Wales for the England U21 midfielder have opened between the clubs after Norwich also showed interest.

Shelvey has made 68 appearances for the Liverpool first team since signing as a 17-year-old in 2010 from Charlton Athletic. He has scored 7 goals.

However, despite being tried and tested under a succession of Liverpool managers – Roy Hodgson, Kenny Dalglish and Brendan Rodgers – Shelvey has never quite found his feet at Anfield.

Henrikh Mkhitryan

The latest of Liverpool’s pursuit of the Armenian attacking midfielder is from The Liverpool Echo. They write that Liverpool “have so far been frustrated in their attempts to negotiate an acceptable deal with the player or his representatives.”

Several newspapers, including The Echo, report that it will take £25m to sign the player Shaktar Donetsk this summer after chief executive, Sergei Palkin was quoted saying:

“We are prepared to sell Mkhitaryan for 30m Euros (£25m). This offer stands for the next 10 days.”

Luis Suarez

Speculation on Suarez’s future may begin to creep back into our daily headlines (had it ever left?!) now that his country, Uruguay have crashed out of the Confederations Cup.

The Uruguayans went down 2-1 to Brazil in the semi-finals on Wednesday night, but still have the matter of the 3rd-place play-off against the loser of Italy vs Spain (Thursday night).

This morning’s Telegraph report that Liverpool are “furious” of allegations that Suarez has agreed a four-year deal with Real Madrid, despite the club having had no official approach from the Spanish giants.

Read the full story on that here.

Goal.com meanwhile report that Liverpool are preparing for life without Suarez by making a move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

On Liverpool (and Tottenham‘s) interest in Benteke, they write:

The Premier League big hitters are both prepared to offer the Belgium international a bumper rise on his current £20,000-a-week terms this summer as well as a major playing role.

Gerard Deulofeu

The Daily Mail say Liverpool and Tottenham are both interested in signing Barcelona winger Deulofeu on loan for the season.

The 19-year-old highly rated midfielder looks set for a season in Barcelona’s B team after the signing of Brazilian Neymar at the Nou Camp pushed him further back down the pecking order.

Deulofeu scored twice for Spain Under 20s in their opening game of the U20 World Cup against the USA last week.

Ousamma Assaidi

The Mirror claim PSV Eindhoven are interested in taking the Moroccan winger on loan next season. Liverpool though would prefer a permanent deal.
