Liverpool begin talks with André Villas-Boas

Liverpool Football Club have begun talks with Portuguese manager Andree Villas-Boas over potentially being appointed the new manager of the club, however it is understood several candidates are being contacted.

Villas-Boas was sensationally sacked by Chelsea just two months ago after less than eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The 34-year-old had previously lead Porto to Primiera League glory in 2011, the same year as winning the Europa League. It is well documented that he has been compared to fellow countryman and former colleague, Jose Mourinho.

But Villas-Boas isn’t nescessarily top of Liverpool’s want list as they begin talks with several high profile managers.

Roberto Martinez of Wigan, Paul Lambert of Norwich City, Brendan Rodgers of Swansea and Jurgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund have all been linked, as well as former Reds boss Rafa Benitez.

Fenway Sports Group are keen to appoint as soon as possible and reports say they have a £30million transfer budget awaiting the new boss.

Villas-Boas is now favourite with the bookmakers for the job, but the BBC report “he is unlikely to get the job”.
