Tuesday’s LFC Transfer Rumours: Reds in for Welsh international

Liverpool have their sights set on signing young Welsh international midfielder Joe Allen from Swansea City, according to this morning’s Independent.

The interest could, however, be reserved for the summer with a midfielder not at the top of Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli’s priorities.

Allen, 21, is locked into a contract with the South Wales club until 2015 and is a product of their youth system.

Reports The Independent, “Allen fits the model of young player that Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli wants to sign – one who can be bought relatively inexpensively and whose value is likely to rise rather than decrease throughout the course of his contract.”

Elsewhere, Sky Sports report that Senegal international striker Moussa Sow says he would jump at the chance of a move to Liverpool.

The Lille striker was top scorer in the French Ligue 1 last season and hopes to one day move to England.

The 25 year old said, “I am at Lille now but as we all know I want to play in England one day.

“Liverpool, well, that is a dream club. Anyone would be happy, scoring goals in front of the Kop can be the highlight of a career.”

Meanwhile, the funeral of the late former Liverpool defender Gary Ablett will take today at the Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. Ablett was 46 when he passed away following a battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
