Liverpool FC unveil new signings to media

Liverpool unveiled their four signings of the summer to the media on Wednesday afternoon at Melwood, welcoming Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Alexander Doni to the club.

Stewart Downing (Midfielder) from Aston Villa
“I’ve left a wonderful club in Aston Villa to come here. I enjoyed my time there but I’m delighted to be here.

“It’s going to be a challenge to break into the team because there’s so many good players here and we’re fighting at the top of the league.

“Liverpool is a great football club, great manager, great players. I heard other clubs were interested but as soon as I heard Kenny was interested, I only wanted to come to Liverpool.

“The club is on the up and I want to be part of it.”

Jordan Henderson (Midfielder) from Sunderland
“There’s great expectations amongst Liverpool players and a football club like this has to deal with the pressure that comes with it.

“We want to make a good start as a team and I hope I can continue the football that impressed to bring me here this summer.

Steven Gerrard‘s injury gives some of us a chance to impress and hopefully break into the team. He’ll be a massive miss, but we’re ready to step up our game.”

Charlie Adam (Midfielder) from Blackpool
“It was difficult to leave Blackpool when they were fighting a relegation battle when Liverpool approached in January. But I continued to give 100% for the rest of the season and unfortunately we didn’t avoid relegation.

“Now I’m delighted to be here as a Liverpool player and it’s time to move on from Blackpool and look forward to the future.

Kenny Dalglish is a very respected man in the game and it’s great to have the opportunity to work with him, the coaching staff here, the players and the new players that have been brought in.

“I want to play as well as I can and hopefully get in the side.”

Alexander Doni (Goalkeeper) from Roma
“It’s a great challenge to take up this opportunity to come to the Premier League and join Liverpool.

“Liverpool are a huge club and I will do my best to gain my trust of the manager and the fans of the club.

“Pepe Reina is one of the best goalkeeper in Europe and it’s a pleasure to work with him, and hopefully help Liverpool by working together.”

Welcome to Liverpool Football Club, lads
