Reds to play at Fenway Park?

Liverpool could play a friendly at the home of baseball side Boston Red Sox, according to chairman Thomas Werner.

The two clubs are, of course, both owned by Fenway Sports Group (formerly New England Sports Ventures).

Any such friendly isn’t likely until 2012, but Fenway has hosted a ‘soccer’ match before when Celtic played Sporting CP last summer.

FSG have just finished a $285m 10-year project to renovate their historic ballpark.

Werner also discussed the possibility of the Sox playing a friendly in England.

Meanwhile, John Henry‘s wife Linda Pizzutti has continued to praise Liverpool fans and sees similarities between the two supporters groups. She told a recent Q&A group “The Red Sox fans and Liverpool fans have a lot in common in that they’re both really well informed. They know what’s going on. They know who the players are, and what their skills are, where they should be playing as opposed to where they’re playing sometimes, and they both bring an incredible amount of fun and atmosphere to Anfield and to Fenway.”
